I was born and raised on a small farm in Medaryville, Indiana. I graduated from North Judson San Pierre High School in 2006. While I was in High-school I was very active in 4H, Jr. Leaders, FFA, Spanish Club and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Although, I was never a very athletic individual, I'm an avid swimmer. I have been an American Red Cross swimming Instructor since I was a Sophomore in High School.
After I graduated from NJSP I attended Ball State University. While at BSU, I became very active in Student Government Hall Council, Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity, and various other leadership organizations. I graduated from BSU in 2012 majoring in Elementary Education. I had a dual minor of Leadership Development and Studies along with a minor in Family, School, and Community Relations.
In my last year of college I student taught in a 3rd grade classroom at Elwood Elementary School. While I was student teaching I also proposed to my current wife, Abbie (Haring) Stalbaum. Abbie was a West Central graduate (10 year member of Jasper Co. 4-H) and she attended Ball State University for Nursing.
After graduation, I taught 5th grade at Kankakee Valley Intermediate School. On December 3, 2011 Abbie and I were married. I taught at KV Intermediate School for 1 year before accepting a position at Rensselaer Central Middle School.
I'm currently the school's RTI Math Coordinator, 8th grade math teacher, a chairman on the school's Leadership Committee, and President of the Rensselaer Classroom Teacher's Association.
My wife and I have two beautiful little girls: Kennedy and Madison.
I believe that giving back to your local community is one of the most important things that you can do in your life. I'm currently President of the Rensselaer Classroom Teachers' Association, and I sit on a number of boards: Kankakee Valley Regional Planning Commission, Pulaski County Economic Development Commission, Pulaski County Building and Zoning Appeals Board, and I'm on the board of Trustees for North Judson San Pierre School Corporation.
